Instead Of DRLs, Why Not Just Turn My Headlights
On? A
'headlights on' policy will decrease your accident rate but will increase your
operating costs. These costs are significant because of two main elements: headlamp
replacements and fuel. Headlamp
costs alone due to replaced headlights could easily be as high as $120.00 per
year, per vehicle. Extra fuel would also be consumed because of the constant demand
of electrical energy to run all of the vehicle's lights. This additional fuel
would amount to .195 gallons for cars and .225 gallons for trucks every 100 miles
traveled. The fuel costs for a truck averaging 50,000 miles per year would be
$130.00. This does not take into account any costs associated with the lights
being left on unintentionally and the cost of road-side assistance. Hamsar's
dedicated DRL systems can eliminate up to 95% of the operating costs of driving
with all lights on. "Those vehicle users (including truck and bus companies)
who have operated with lights on in daytime in the absence of the regulation will
also benefit disproportionately in being able to avoid the costly use of all vehicle
lamps." 2/9/87 Canada Gazette, Part II
WHY IS THE VISI-LIGHTŪ BY HAMSAR UNIQUE?
The
Hamsar Visi-LightŪ DRLs all feature the proprietary Hamsar
0100 custom integrated circuit. This means that every DRL produced by
Hamsar is solid state using the very latest technology. There is
nothing to wear out plus the Hamsar 0100 integrated
circuit protects your vehicle with over and under voltage protection and the most
advanced circuitry available today. Hamsar
manufactures DRLs for many companies at the original equipment level such
as Peterbilt, Kenworth, Mack, Volvo, Navistar, Freightliner, Land Rover, and many
other well known vehicle makes all over the world. Every DRL made by
Hamsar is built using the same care that goes
into the original equipment models so that every one of the Visi-LightŪ DRLs
meet or exceed all applicable CSA and FM VSS lighting standards. WHY
ARE THERE SO MANY TYPES OF DRLs? Hamsar
manufactures many different types of daytime running lights to match the needs
of every customer. These DRLs range from simple types that turn on all lights
of the vehicle to the most sophisticated dedicated DRLs that turn on the low or
high beams at reduced intensity. Photo cell equipped DRL models that automatically
turn on all lights at dusk or in poor driving conditions are also available.
